Adde Adesokan is a self-taught photographer, who was born in Germany. He started to be interested in photography in 2010, while traveling. During his traveling he realized that Adesokan was always more interested in the people around a particular sight than in the sight itself. Adde Adesokan’s photography is mostly referred as street photography or documentary. Adesokan believes in photographic skill, vision and a will of constant improvement. From his work one can see that there is a variety of shots and that his photographs truly depict the country he is in and its people. One of his projects is called: TRIPTYCHS OF STRANGERS Adde Adesokan states that: ‘Street photography is about the moment and sometimes doing portraits felt to me as some sort of backdoor to a satisfying day of street photography.’ As a photographer he does not find it hard to talk to strangers once he starts shooting and be in the mood. At first Adesokan thought about shooting 100 strangers or starting a 365 days’ project, but after two weeks of doing headshots he felt that the project needed to be pushed to a new idea. The idea of triptychs (a picture or relief carving on three panels, typically hinged together vertically and used as an altarpiece) began when he first saw a horizontal triptych at an art gallery in his hometown. He has been traveling a lot for more than two years and since the project started he feels that it is more fun. He feels that this project is a better excuse to talk to a stranger than an international street project. Adesokan looks around places and love to hang out. When someone looks interesting he just go for it. Starting by introducing the project and by the time and explain everything they go “And now me?” Most people are flattered because I’m not only up to take their picture. I really like to know who they are and what they do, to reveal their personality in these three shots. (Adesokan, 2012) This project is definitely about people and their stories. Fashion and beauty are relative and don’t have a strong focus. (oitzarisme,2012 - Adde Adesokan) This project was done in just three pictures on each person, but there are not just random pictures, he managed to reveal their personalities. I went through the images without reading anything about them and guess what they do and after I read about them and my guess was good about them. (oitzarisme,2012 - Adde Adesokan) My first guess was that this person is some kind of a photographer, from the second image, him holding the camera. His name is Kim TAE HWAN and he is a fashion/Editorial photographer mostly working for Elle Magazine (oitzarisme,2012 - Adde Adesokan) My first guess about this woman was that she is some kind of a tribe person and her work is doing rice. Her name is JAA and she is a member an Ethnic group known as Red DZAO (they can be recognized from their red turbans). They make their living from cultivating corn and rice. (oitzarisme,2012 - Adde Adesokan) My first guess about this person that he is a painter and by looking at the background I thought of a graffiti person. His name is Georg and he plays basketball in a club called Empor, his favourite music genre is hip-hop. (These I did not notice there aren’t an indications). But Georg is a Graffiti artist; he has been spraying for more than fifteen years. Adesokan asked him if he ever get busted which he did in the past. The first time was at the age of sixteen.
